Now here is a man who loves his music! Nic Cogels is the lead singer of Sydney based Indie band “Cogel”, who launched their first record 'Cogel EP' in 2011. Not much later, Triple J’s Brendan Maclean saw them live and blogged “Cogel stunned the modest audience with their ethereal rock”. In the following months, Cogel proved to have earned that praise and the group of five toured to Melbourne with Tash Parker and Wally De Backer (aka Gotye). The result of said concert was ‘Rocks On The Sun’, a cooperation with Gotye. We thought we'd interview Nic to find out where he draws his inspiration.

Trendspotting: Who or what inspires you?
Nic Cogels: Friends, pictures and movies have a great impact on me. Music of course! Dreams and probably all sorts of things I’m not aware of.
Trendspotting: What is the greatest invention of all times and why?
Nic Cogels: Ice cream, what is not to love about it?
Trendspotting: What invention would have been better off if it hadn't been invented?
Nic Cogels: The nuclear bomb.
Trendspotting: What are the three things you don't leave the house without?
Nic Cogels: Contacts. A shower. Sleep.
Trendspotting: What was the last concert you saw?
Nic Cogels: Local Natives.
Trendspotting: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Nic Cogels: The ability to fly!
Trendspotting: What's your favourite style of food?
Nic Cogels: Japanese, I love sashimi!
Trendspotting: If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would it be?
Nic Cogels: Feist.
Trendspotting: What would you imagine the world to look like in 15 years from today?
Nic Cogels: I don’t think a whole lot will change drastically.
When I was 12, I thought in the year 2000 cars would be flying. That we would wear funky minimalist outfits and we’d know precisely when it would rain. I guess the world changes and evolves, but most trends are being recycled.
Trendspotting: If you could chose any place to live in the world where would you want to live?
Nic Cogels: Here.
Trendspotting: Is there anything else you want to share with the world?
Nic Cogels: I like turtles.
